Terracotta Warriors and Ancient China - Herritage from the Qin and Han Dynasty

Ueno Royal Museum
FinishedReservation Required
It will soon be half a century since the discovery of the terracotta warriors and horses in the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in 1974. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of normalizing diplomatic relations between Japan and China.

The exhibition features approximately 120 items, including first-class artifacts (*2) on display in Japan for the first time, mainly excavated in Guanzhong, the central region of the Han dynasty from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods leading up to the establishment of the Qin dynasty.

The exhibition will be supervised by Professor Emeritus Kazuyuki Tsuruma of Gakushuin University. Tsuruma also oversaw the Chinese history of the movie "Kingdom of the Movie," and will showcase the latest research results while approaching the relationship with the "Western Regions" such as ancient Rome and Egypt. Also featured is a full-scale reproduction of a terracotta army formation in the exhibition hall, dynamically introducing the history of ancient China.

*This exhibition requires reservations. Please check the official website for details.
