Yasuko Koyama
The exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of Yasuko Koyama's birth, a renowned hiragana writer who was a prominent figure in the Heisei era. Born in 1924 in Tokyo, Koyama was exposed to various art forms from a young age, including calligraphy, tea ceremony, and more. Koyama's calligraphy fused classical and contemporary styles, earning Koyama numerous awards and the distinction of being the first woman recognized as a cultural contributor in the field. This exhibition, commemorating Koyama's 100th birthday, traces the creative journey of Koyama, primarily focusing on the artist's works held in the museum's collection.
