Established in 2020, From consists of artists dedicated to shaping the future of Nihonga Japanese painting through research, experimentation, and presentation. The group’s name reflects the unity of artists "from" diverse backgrounds and affiliations, sharing a common objective. It also embodies their intention to experiment with contemporary Nihonga in their unique ways and communicate its significance to future generations From exhibitions.
The exhibition will feature works by eight artists- Kazutoshi Oshimoto, Mao Kawasaki, Meiko Kinoshita, Hiroko Takeda, Shugo Tajima, Kohei Nagasawa, Mikiko Noji, and Megumi Yamaura. While rooted in the traditional techniques of Nihonga, these artists explore free-form painting expressions infused with modern sensibilities.
