Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso et al.
From the 19th to the 20th century, artists in Europe explored and created new forms of expression. Among them are Claude Monet, an Impressionist who chased after the fading light; Pierre-Auguste Renoir, who mainly painted women and landscapes; Vincent van Gogh, who established a style of painting with fiery colors and strong brushwork; and Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous artists of the 20th century.
This exhibition will feature gems from the collection of the Kasama Nichido Art Museum in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, including works by the masters of modern Western art who symbolized their times. On the other hand, the Kasama Nichido Art Museum also owns the Otsu-e collection, which was collected by Gentaro Koito. The Spanish painter Joan Miró, who was interested in Japanese culture, also saw these Otsu-e, folk paintings of the Edo period. This exhibition will display a selection of Otsu-e works and Miro's prints from the museum's collection, along with works of modern Western art.
