The Edo Clan - Mito During the Warring States Period

Mito City Museum
Finished
The Edo clan governed the region as the lords of Mito Castle for approximately 160 years until they were overthrown by the Satake clan in the 18th year of Tensho (1590). The era of the Edo clan witnessed the birth of Mito as a city and within the interactions with the Edo clan, the local culture flourished. In this exhibition, we will trace the footsteps of the Edo clan through materials preserved in Mito and the surrounding areas, unveiling the appearance of Mito during the Warring States period.
