The Kanazawa Bunko Manuscripts - The Story of Wandering Books

The Tokugawa Art Museum
3 more days
The Kanazawa Bunko is the oldest samurai library founded by Hojo Sanetoki, and is known as a treasure house of classical books. After the fall of the Kamakura Shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu actively collected the scattered books in the collection. Some of them were handed down to his son Yoshinao as "Suruga gozuhon" and stored in the Yomogi bunko. Against this historical background, the two museums, which possess Japan's world-renowned "Kanazawa bunko" classics, have collaborated to preserve and pass on their collections.
