This exhibit will include "hump-bull earthenware with spout" and other high-impact earthenware produced in ancient Iran between 900 B.C. and 800 B.C.
Humped cattle are cattle with a hump on their backs that were bred in South Asia and Africa. The "hump-bull earthenware with spout" is attractive because of its deformed form, which emphasizes the hump of the hump-bull and shortens the legs to an extremely short length. The hump-bull earthenware is so deformed that some people think it is modern art. Also on display will be core glass, Roman-blown glass, and cut glass from the Sasanid Persian period.
Paintings, entitled "Painters Born in the 19th Century," will include works by Tsubaki Tsubakiyama (b. 1801), Akio Okamoto (b. 1807), Zeshin Shibata (b. 1807), Tessai Tomioka (b. 1837), and Shotei Watanabe (b. 1851). In addition, Asian sculptures and works by Mokichi Okada will be on display.
