The Magician of the Cutting Papersー Lu Shengzhong

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Lu Shengzhong
Lu Shengzhong is one of the representative artists from China whose work has transcended the frame of folk art by taking forms of large-scale installations since the late 1980s, referring to its source as Chinese folk art (especially cutting papers and New Year paintings).

This exhibition looks back at Lu’s career and achievements through our museum collection following the artist’s passing at the end of last year. We will also introduce works by another paper-cutting artist whom Lu looked up to as the master, as well as those created by his students.
