Shigemasa Kaneko
Shigemasa Kaneko (1912-1982), born in Ichinohe-cho, Ninohe-gun, Iwate Prefecture, was recognized for his talent while attending an art school in Tokyo and entered the creative world as a children's picture artist. In 1945, he was evacuated to Fukuoka-cho, Ninohe-gun (now Ninohe City) due to the severe air raids on Tokyo. After the war, he published many works in the field of rental manga and magazines for boys and girls.

This exhibition introduces the manga works of Kaneko Shigemasa, who was one of the first manga artists in Iwate Prefecture and looks back on his cultural and artistic activities throughout his life, in addition to his manga. This exhibition was originally scheduled to be held from April to June 2020 but was canceled due to the closure of the museum to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
