Momo Okabe
The fifth project in the Toga Aoyama exhibition series "Toga Triangle" will feature the solo exhibition of photographer Momo Okabe.

Okabe's works, characterized by their unique colors, are a personal narrative depicting the inner landscapes acquired after a long and dark struggle with the past, records of memories with a deeply loved partner, despair and fear of death, and violent energy of anger. The elegies created by shocking images such as earthquakes, debris, and gender confirmation surgery do not represent the sorrow of an end, but rather the origin where new energy is born, naturally depicting courageous conflicts.

This exhibition will feature eight works chosen by the artist from the photo book "Dildo," which captures the relationship with two partners who underwent gender transition, and "Bible," which comprises works shot in Tokyo, Miyagi, and India, as well as four works from "Ilmatar," which documents six years including the artist's pregnancy and childbirth as an asexual individual.

Momo Okabe states, "Photography is the act of recording to forget extremely personal experiences." This is Okabe's first in Japan in about four years.
