Toku Satake Exhibition

Setouchi City Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Toku Satake
Toku Satake (1897-1998, Osaka Prefecture) was accepted for the first time at the 11th Bunten Exhibition in 1917 at the age of 20 and thereafter continued to exhibit at the Teiten, Shinbunten, and Nitten exhibitions.

In 1959, at the age of 62, Satake visited the Ushimado olive gardens for the first time and was fascinated by the green olive trees and red soil. This exhibition will display mainly large oil paintings by Toku Satake, a pillar of the Setouchi City Art Museum's collection, and trace his painting career through landscapes, still lifes, and portraits from the 1940s onward.
