Utamaro Kitagawa, Kakoku Shima, Takashi Shima, Hosuke Hashimoto, Toshi Shimizu, Kenji Suzuki, Rokansai Iizuka, Isson Tanaka, Jin Osakabe, Kenji Suzuki, Haruko Kumota et al.
Amidst the intersection of various people and cultures, Tochigi City has produced outstanding artists. This exhibition will feature works by such artists as Utamaro Kitagawa, an ukiyoe artist of the Edo period; Kakoku Shima and his wife, who were active in the dawn of photography from the end of the Edo period to the early Meiji period; Kunisuke Hashimoto, who created both Western and Japanese paintings from the Meiji period to the Showa period; Nobuyuki Shimizu, who stayed in the US and Europe and depicted the lives of ordinary people; and Isson Tanaka, who devoted himself to painting in isolation on Amami Oshima; Jin Osakabe, who traveled all over the scenic landscapes of Japan; Kenji Suzuki, who loved the poor but strong common folk; and Haruko Kumoda, a currently active manga artist.

First Period: Saturday, April 15 - Sunday, May 14 
Second Period: Tuesday, May 16 - Sunday, June 18
The exhibition will be changed during the exhibition period.
