Artists

Tomoyuki Kambe
This time, Gallery Hirota Bijutsu will be holding a new exhibition by Tomoyuki Kambe, the first in two years.

Tomoyuki Kambe's work began with a focus on the original landscape of Nagara River in his hometown of Gifu Prefecture and the small creatures inhabiting the riverside. Since the end of 2013, he has continued to depict the world of small creatures that earnestly and sometimes optimistically "live" regardless of their environment. He observes the lives of small creatures living nearby and depicts their lives sincerely. Learning much from classical Japanese art, Tomoyuki Kambe endeavors to express it in a contemporary manner. He is an artist who not only adapts techniques and appearances to the present day but also incorporates personal or societal thoughts into his works with a gentle gaze.

The exhibition will be held simultaneously at the Art Fair Tokyo and Gallery Hirota Bijutsu. New works, including large-scale pieces, will be presented.
