Toshiro Uragami: Ukiyo-e and Oriental Ceramics

Hagi Uragami Museum
Finished

Artists

Hokusai Katsushika et al.
The museum opened in 1993 when Toshiro Uragami (1926-2020), a businessman from Hagi, donated his collection of ukiyo-e prints and oriental ceramics, which he had collected over a period of nearly 40 years, to Yamaguchi Prefecture. As Honorary Director of the museum, Urakami has continued to donate artworks every year since then, enriching the collection and contributing greatly to the development of the museum's activities. This exhibition is held in memory of Urakami on the third anniversary of his death on August 15, 2020.

The Urakami Collection was built through his passion and belief in his own "eye" for art. The exhibition will introduce ukiyo-e prints, Chinese and Korean antique ceramics, and other masterpieces of Uragami's collection, and will give a new look at their charms.
