Toshiyuki Kimura
Toshiyuki Kimura was born in Tokyo in 1969. After studying oil painting at Nihon University, he worked as a freelance matte painter on numerous special effects and VFX projects, including films directed by Akira Kurosawa and Nobuhiko Obayashi and the Heisei Godzilla series. He also established "Loop Hohle" in 1997 as a special effects studio specializing in the technique of reconstructing images from paintings. While working in visual media such as movies, music videos, and games, in June 2005, Kimura opened a gallery inside the studio that handles contemporary art, presenting his own work, organizing exhibitions, and supporting young artists.

This exhibition, the 25th in the "MATIM” series, features an installation inspired by French composer Maurice Ravel's 1899 composition "Pavane for a Late Princess.”

In addition to the talk events with guests during the exhibition period, the exhibition will be held concurrently with the main exhibition at three other spaces in Tokyo.
