Traces of Genius: Celebrating the 160th Anniversary of Takeuchi Seiho’s Birth

Umi-Mori Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Seiho Takeuchi
Seiho Takeuchi revolutionized Japanese painting during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. Unfettered by traditional techniques, Takeuchi sought a style resonant with the era, blending Eastern and Western influences. In 2024, marking the 160th anniversary of Takeuchi's birth, an exhibition will showcase Takeuchi's evolution, featuring never-before-seen pieces and archival materials. Visitors will uncover lesser-known facets such as collaborations, correspondence with peers, and the creative process through sketches and photographs.
