Kawara Museum of Takahama City, a Hometown of Ceramics
Finished
Rebuses are wordplay using homophones, which are common in Japanese, to decipher the sound represented by the picture and come up with an answer. In this exhibition, the ukiyo-e artists from the Edo to Meiji periods, who were part of the Utagawa school, present challenging and unique questions using their skillfully designed patterns.
