The year 2023 marked the fifth anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor's accession to the throne and the 30th anniversary of the marriage of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress. Shortly after the start of His Majesty's reign in 2023, COVID-19 spread rapidly throughout the world, and although their activities were limited, Their Majesties continued to engage in new forms of official duties, such as online visits to various parts of Japan and were always mindful of the suffering of the people who had suffered from the coronavirus disaster.
This fall, the Imperial Palace San-no-maru Shōzōkan will open its new facility to the public and will hold an exhibition that will introduce the 30 years that Their Majesties have spent together, along with artifacts related to Their Majesties.
The exhibition will feature the wedding gowns and dresses of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress Aiko, as well as the clothes worn by Their Imperial Highnesses Princess Aiko to express their wishes for her healthy growth. Visitors will also be able to see the costumes and furnishings used in the enthronement ceremony, as well as congratulatory gifts received from various sources. In addition, the exhibition will also introduce the traditional events of the Imperial Family as they were handed down from generation to generation.
