Victorian Jewelry of Love

Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu
Finished
In 19th-century England, jewelry made great progress during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). This exhibition introduces a variety of antique jewelry pieces from private collections in Japan, including pieces related to the British royal family during the Victorian era. Visitors are invited to enjoy the world of gorgeous jewelry made with great skill and craftsmanship using precious metals.

During the Victorian era, the royal family was at the center of the wedding ceremony, and the custom of afternoon tea took root. This exhibition also introduces the development of lace that decorated ceremonial dresses in 19th-century England and the tableware used for elegant afternoon tea.
