Yoshihiko Ueda
Yoshihiko Ueda has been at the forefront of photography for over 40 years, transcending the categories of art photography and advertising photography. His works, which capture the world's greatest moments with a sincere and consistent gaze, have been highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
This exhibition presents one of Ueda's best-known works, a series of photographs taken in various locations in China (from Dalian to the coast of Hainan Island) for a Suntory Oolong Tea advertisement from the fall of 1989 to 2011. Ueda will develop large 120cm x 170cm prints of mainly women's portraits, which will be framed in original frames to bring out the beauty of the works.
Concurrently, at Daikanshō Hillside Terrace, Hillside Forum and Gallery On the Hill, approximately 200 snapshots taken by Ueda with a 35mm film camera while on location will be on display. Akaaka will publish a photo book featuring the works in this exhibition.
