"Masking / 1st Impression" is an exhibition by Yuki Inoue. Since his first solo exhibition in 2003, Inoue has been creating work with the salamanders as the main motif. These salamanders have been portrayed as "evolving" into human forms, behaving in a way that reflects a critical view of human society while observing the world from a detached perspective.

In this exhibition, Inoue introduces a new series titled "Mask," featuring works based on the human body. In today's society, many people, despite being born as individuals with unique personalities, cannot live on their own without covering their faces with temporary masks. While they desire recognition for their true selves, they often find admiration for someone else and attempt to identify with them to maintain balance.

This exhibition presents a unique perspective as the artist, who has previously observed the world through the eyes of evolved salamanders, now explores the boundaries between the real and the fictional, delving into the ideals and realities of human existence.
