Yumeji Takehisa
In the 1920s, when the new era changed from Taisho to Showa, Japan underwent rapid modernization.

Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) attracted the masses with his unique Yumeji-style paintings of beautiful women, while at the same time keenly observing the transitional period and society, which he reflected in his creative activities.

This exhibition introduces Takehisa's sketches and essays related to the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, of which he was a victim, as well as his depictions of modern girls in his first magazine, Fujin-graph, published in 1924. The exhibition will also focus on the expression of Art Deco in commercial design and will exhibit a wide range of Takehisa's work from the 1920s.

The exhibition also looks back on the love life and lifestyle of Takehisa, who was in his 40s at the time, as well as the culture of approximately 100 years ago.
