Flotsam Books is pleased to announce the publication of "Onsen I," a new photo book by photographer Yusuke Yamatani. This is the first publication by flotsam books and Yamatani's first book in three years. An exhibition and pre-sale of the book will be held at the flotsam books store in Daitabashi, Tokyo, from March 17 to March 26, 2023.
Yamatani is a fan of "open-air hot springs," which exist quietly in nature without any maintenance, and he has been searching for hot springs in the mountains throughout Japan whenever he can find the time. Sometimes he has taken friends and family along, and sometimes he has recruited companions through zines and SNS to soak in the hot springs. This series can be described as attempting to recapture the human being and the world by physically intervening in the landscape.
