The Toguri Museum of Art opened in November 1987 in Shoto, Shibuya-ku, the former residence of the Nabeshima family, for the purpose of permanently preserving and widely exhibiting the ceramics and other art objects collected over many years by its founder, Toru Toguri. The collection consists mainly of Hizen porcelain such as Imari and Nabeshima, as well as oriental ceramics from China, Korea, and other countries. The museum is one of the few museums in Japan that specialize in ceramics and holds four special exhibitions a year.
