Established in 2000 with the aim of contributing to the transmission and development of printing culture, the museum was renovated in October 2020 and now houses approximately 70,000 printing-related historical materials.

The permanent exhibition consists of three zones: "Japanese History of Printing," which introduces over 1,200 years of Japanese printing culture history; "World History of Printing," which presents a chronological table; and "Printing x Technology," which introduces printing processes and printing plate formats. In addition, a large-scale special exhibition is held once a year in the exhibition hall.

The Printing Workshop, which has a collection of typefaces, offers hands-on letterpress printing and exhibits type cabinets, machinery, and an archive of European typefaces.

The P&P Gallery, which holds special exhibitions and events focusing on contemporary printing expression and technology, and the library, which houses approximately 70,000 volumes of materials on printing and related fields, allow visitors to experience printing culture from the past to the present.
