The Hagi Uragami Memorial Museum was opened in 1996 with the donation of ukiyo-e prints and oriental ceramics collected by Toshiro Uragami (1926-2020), a businessman from Hagi. The museum houses approximately 5,500 ukiyoe prints by Hiroshige Utagawa, Hokusai Katsushika, Kuniyoshi Utagawa, and others, 600 pieces of oriental ceramics from China, Korea, and other countries, and 800 pieces of modern and contemporary ceramics and craftwork (as of 2021). The museum was introduced in the Michelin Green Guide Japon, a travel guide for foreign tourists, as a two-star tourist facility, the highest ranking in Yamaguchi Prefecture, along with Kintai Bridge, one of the three most famous bridges in Japan.
