The Woodone Museum of Art was opened in September 1996 to display and exhibit approximately 800 works of art from the collection of Woodone Corporation, a manufacturer of wood construction materials. The site is located in the Nishi-Chugoku Mountains in the northwestern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, in a favorable environment rich in nature with virgin forests. Visitors can appreciate many works of art amid forests, streams, and clean air.  The museum attracted attention for the successful bid of Ryusei Kishida's "Portrait of Reiko with Woolen Shoulders," and for works such as Van Gogh's "Farm Woman" and Renoir's "Study for a Woman" and "Woman with a Basket of Flowers."
