Kumi Machida "à Sade"

Nishimura Gallery
Finished

Artists

Kumi Machida
By choosing materials such as India ink and pigment on fine flaxen paper, Kumi Machida projects the beloved Japanese motifs of Cupies and bobbed-hair children in a twisted present time, based in anxiety. The very peculiar, subtle brush lines shown on the works were made by repeating fine lines of India ink. This artisan-like process of creation adds ardour upon apparently inorganic works. Tada's fascinations are represented in a mysterious world.
In her first exhibition at Nishimura Gallery, 18 works from "The Romance of the School of Libertinage" (Marquis de Sade) and 10 new works are exhibited.
