This artist likes walking around in back alleys, and tends to seek them out while traveling in foreign countries. He has been observing people's lives in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou after taking an interest in the rapidly changing back alleys of China's cities seven years ago. Since the population density is so high and the residential situation so bad in China, residents would naturally flow out into the streets and create an active street life where even these public spaces would become a part of their living space. This livelihood and the back alleys themselves have been disappearing due to redevelopment and forced relocation, and it is hard to come to terms with this despite knowing that it is a powerful inevitable tide. 90 black-and-white photographs are on display.
