Yutaka Miyazaki "A Landscape Outside the Window"

Nikon Plaza Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Yutaka Miyazaki
Running through the city of Osaka, the Yodogawa River is a downtown oasis with an expansive river bed. The river is home to abundant nature rarely seen in an urban environment, while the river bed is a cherished place of relaxation for the locals. For Miyazaki, particularly, Yodogawa is "Mother River" - where he grew up and spent his childhood.

In an attempt to convey the importance of passing on this valuable preserve of nature to posterity, Miyazaki shot with his self-made pinhole camera "imaginary rooms" whose windows overlook expanses of precious landscape. 42 monochrome photographs are on view.
