British ceramic brand Wedgwood is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year. While maintaining its old traditions, they have continued to breathe new life into their products, establishing for themselves a solid position within the European ceramic industry.
Wedgwood was founded by the "father of British craftsmen" Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) in 1759. Born into a family of ceramicists, Josiah began making ceramics in his childhood and, at the age of 29, established Ivy House Center, the precursor to Wedgwood Co., Ltd. From then on, he would constantly introduce new lines of products, including "Cream Ware" and "Jasper," while also laying the foundation for Wedgwood traditions that have been kept alive right through to the present.
Centering on pieces from the Wedgwood Museum collection, this exhibition showcases a wide variety of precious products ranging from tableware to ornamental items.
