Animal Worship: Welcoming the Double-Ram Zun from the British Museum

The Nezu Museum
Finished
Animal Worship: Welcoming the Double-Ram Zun from the British Museum is a special exhibition bringing together some 70 works with ram and other animal motifs, including paintings and other objects, to coincide with the Year of the Sheep. The exhibition is organized around four themes, including the ancient Chinese bronze vessels incorporating animal forms from the British Museum and the Sen-oku Hakuko Kan in Kyoto, Buddhist paintings of sacred animals as offerings, ink paintings and folding screens with powerful or auspicious animals as their subject, and, finally, charming animals decorating objects used in the tea ceremony and in daily life. Frightening, fascinating, familiar, funny: animals’ gestures and diverse forms are here for all to enjoy.
