Artists

Yoshitoshi Tsukioka
Yoshitoshi Tsukioka was an ukiyo-e artist active in the late-Edo and Meiji eras. Amid turbulent changes going into the Meiji period, Tsukioka produced numerous works with vivid imagery, including historical pictures and portraits of warriors, actors, and beautiful women. The shocking “Chi Midoro-e” (Bloodstained Picture) series is among his most famous works. This exhibition introduces two major series from Tsukioka’s late years, “New Forms of 36 Ghosts” and “100 Aspects of the Moon.”
