Kunito Nagaoka
Kunito Nagaoka was born in 1940 in Saku, Nagano Prefecture. After graduating from Tama Art University, he moved to Berlin and graduated from the national university in 1976 having majored in printmaking and painting. Since then Nagaoka has won various prizes at international events including printmaking biennales in various parts of Europe. He is also well-known among his Japanese contemporaries also working overseas. Since returning to Japan for the first time in 27 years to teach at Kyoto Seika University, he has continued using old paper to produce his works. It has been 24 years since his last solo exhibition in Tokyo.
