Naoki Takehisa has used digital media to explore the relationship between photographer and subject. For “Self Portraits” Takehisa uses the iPhone to explore the limitations of photography as a medium for memory. Synchronizing two iPhones, one to shoot the portrait and the other to shoot the taking of the portrait. Takehisa shows that photography is based on the whim of the photographer and is an incomplete picture of what is in front of us.
