Shinjuku Ophthalmologist Gallery holds exhibitions of contemporary art, mainly photography, installations, and video. The gallery does not limit itself to the traditional notion of a gallery and instead takes an inclusive approach that encompasses expressions as wide-ranging as contemporary art, theater, photojournalism, and more in an exploration that connects society and art.
The exhibition space is set in Shinjuku, a multicultural place where artists come face-to-face with their social responsibility and have the opportunity to be flexible in their thinking and have discourse with each other on an equal footing.Located alongside an open and bustling road, the gallery’s four unique exhibition spaces are constantly challenging the status quo.
*The name of the gallery expresses the gallery’s aim to be a place that is “a sight for sore eyes”. Please make no mistake, the gallery is not and has never been an ophthalmology clinic.
