In an age dominated by rapid AI advancements, MOMOKO SHIMODA GALLERY seeks to return to the "embodiment" of art. Rather than viewing art as mere consumable information, the gallery emphasizes a visceral connection—one where the warmth of the creator and the raw texture of materials speak directly to the human senses. The Significance of Asakusa The gallery is intentionally situated in Asakusa, a district that serves as a unique crossroads of history. Far from being a mere relic of tradition, Asakusa has historically functioned as a laboratory for Tokyo’s modernity. It is a rare locale where high-minded intellectual creativity meets the practical "commercial craft" of local artisans. Today, as a global symbol of Japanese identity, Asakusa provides a multilayered cultural foundation for innovative artistic exploration. Art as Metabolism Distinctively, the gallery is integrated with the innovative restaurant "page." This partnership transcends the traditional, passive experience of the "white cube" gallery. By blending fine art with gastronomy, the gallery proposes a "metabolic" relationship with creativity—where art is literally incorporated into the body and processed through the senses. Through this fusion of history, craft, and culinary innovation, the gallery invites visitors to rediscover an artistic experience that resonates with the natural rhythms and physical presence of the human body.

「TSUKI_HACHI_GALLERY(Art Space Tsuki Daitai Yōka)」opened on October 5, 2025, in the TSUKIMIDAI NARIWAI HOUSING , located on a hilltop in Taura-machi, Yokosuka, Kanagawa. This former municipal housing site, consisting of 65-year-old single-story houses and offering sweeping views of the sea, is sometimes referred to as a “ruin in the sky.” It is currently being revitalized as part of the Former Taura-machi Tsukimidai Housing Regeneration Project. We see this space not merely as a place to view artworks, but as an experimental field where artists, viewers, and artworks resonate with and influence one another. Here, the communication that emerges through encounters between creators and audiences is considered part of the work itself. By embracing not only the experience of viewing art, but also the possibility of carrying these encounters into everyday life, we aim to explore new forms of artistic appreciation beyond conventional boundaries and to foster the creation of meaningful relationships.

ART & CAFE Shonan Kujirakan is a small, hidden gallery and café surrounded by the natural scenery of Katase-Mejiroyama in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. Its concept is to bring art into everyday life, creating a place where visitors can casually enjoy carefully selected works while relaxing with a cup of tea. Inheriting the spirit of the former “Gallery Shonan Kujirakan,” the space focuses on intimate, heart-warming artworks that can be appreciated in a calm, unhurried atmosphere. Exhibitions change with the seasons, and workshops by artists are also held, fostering direct interaction between creators and visitors. By blending art with daily life, local history, and the surrounding nature, the gallery aims to create gentle encounters that quietly enrich the mind.

The anime Nintama Rantaro is NHK’s longest-running animated series and is now a beloved national anime enjoyed across generations. The original work for this anime is “Rakudai Ninja Rantaro” by Amako Soubei, who was born in Amagasaki and has continued drawing manga there. The Amako Soubei Manga Gallery, showcasing her works with a focus on the original drawings of Rakudai Ninja Rantaro, has opened inside the Kaimei Government Building in Amagasaki. This is the first permanent space in Japan dedicated to exhibiting Amako’s original drawings. Making use of a former elementary school building, the gallery features a display space inspired by the “Ninjutsu Academy,” as well as a shop corner and an area where fans can gather and interact. Though small in scale, it is a unique and charming gallery.

Moon Gallery 2 Asakusa branch is a newly established branch of Moon Gallery & Studio, located near Senso-ji in Asakusa. The gallery focuses on exhibiting artworks from international artists, including paintings, installations, illustrations and ZINEs etc..
