Gallery Kochi

Gallery KOCHI occupies a renovated building that once housed a yudofu restaurant. It was designed to make the most of the crape myrtle rooted on this site. The interior and garden are gently connected, and the changing seasons can also be viewed from the tea room. In the garden, stones brought from Shiga are arranged around a monolith weighing approximately four metric tons. Their sequence evokes the flow of water, creating a landscape in which architecture, garden, light, and contemporary art quietly resonate. To sense not only the artworks but also the garden, architecture, and changing light as a single experience—this is the space of Gallery KOCHI.
