Finnish Design for Everyday Life – Patterns and Forms Inspired by Nature

Bunkamura Museum of Art
Finished
Finland is a treasure house of rich nature and beautiful design. The many products that have been used for a long time in this country, said to boast the world's highest level of happiness, are backed by the idea of "remembering the great outdoors." Surrounded by such designs, the people of Finland have always loved a lifestyle that incorporates the benefits of the earth into their lives.

From the 1930s to the 1970s, designers, architects, and artists who are still widely known today emerged, and their successes helped to establish Finnish design, which continues to this day.

Under the supervision of the Helsinki Art Museum (HAM), this exhibition features textiles by Marimekko and Finlayson, glass art by Kaj Frank, ceramics, furniture, and other products, as well as paintings from the same period. With approximately 250 works and 80 related materials, the exhibition introduces the history of Finnish design, which has produced masterpieces that have been loved for generations.
