Kiyoshi Hasegawa began his creative activities in the mid-1910s as a printmaker for the literary coterie magazine Mask. In addition to being a member of the Salon d'Automne and the Association of French Painters and Printmakers, and highly acclaimed in the Paris art world, he was awarded the Order of Culture in France and the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Third Class, in Japan, in recognition of his achievements as an artist. The International Museum of Graphic Arts hosted an exhibition of Hasegawa’s prints in 2018.
This exhibition builds on that exhibition, displaying Hasegawa’s work from his earliest days to his copper prints of the 1970s in chronological order, as well as works by related artists, comprising a total of 165 pieces. The French translation of "Taketori Monogatari," a masterpiece of illustrated books, will be exhibited.
