Rinko Kawauchi
Rinko Kawauchi (1972-) is an internationally acclaimed photographer who won the 27th Ihei Kimura Award for her two photo books Utatane and Hanabi" (Little More, 2001), and has continued to publish photo books and hold solo exhibitions.

From the beginning, Kawauchi's work has been characterized by unique colors enveloped in soft light, and he continues to capture the mystery, glamour, transience, and strength of all forms of life, including people and animals. Kawauchi's eye equally encompasses all areas, from familiar objects such as family, plants, and animals to majestic nature such as volcanoes and icebergs. The great appeal of Kawauchi's artistic world lies in the fact that the ephemeral and casual things of daily life are connected with the workings of the earth formed over a long period of time with a unique sensibility, and emit the same radiance.

In this exhibition, Kawauchi will present her new series "M/E," which focuses on the theme of connection with Mother Earth, with photographs taken in Iceland, along with work from past series, as well as new work based on the theme of daily life during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between human activities and nature.
