Saori Nagata was born in Aichi in 1988. She is currently an artist based in Tajimi, Gifu, also known as the town of ceramics. She has been creating ceramic sculptures, oil paintings, and metal sculptures with motifs of animals, plants, and other living creatures, which she has loved since she was a child. As her interest in sculpture expanded, she began to create two-dimensional work in oil paint. Nagata's work has been exhibited mainly in Aichi, Osaka, Tokyo, and other cities in Japan, and the soft colors and gentle scenes have attracted many fans.
Nagata says that she begins her work by researching the lives of animals and the land they live in. At the exhibition, the exhibition space is like a universe in which all the creatures are free to exist. In this exhibition, her first solo show at OIL by Bijutsu Techo Gallery, Nagata focuses on large ceramic sculptures of beavers. The exhibition will be inspired by the wild beavers that live around Argentina and weaves a story of the birds and small animals that live around them.
The work will also be available online starting at 16:00 on Saturday, July 16. Also available for sale at the venue will be accessories made by Nagata.
