50th Anniversary Commemorative Collection Exhibition 1 - 50 Years of Progress

Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished
The Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art will exhibit works from its collection in seven categories: Japanese painting, Western painting, sculpture, crafts, calligraphy, prints, and recently added "installations" (a technique that expresses exhibition space as part of the artwork).

The purpose of this exhibition is to provide an overview of the museum's collection history by selecting representative works from each era since its opening in 1974, and to serve as a guide for future activities over the next 50 years.

The exhibition consists of ten chapters, including "Opening: From 1974 to 1983," "Boso Artists Series (1974-1988)," and "From the 40th Anniversary to the Present: Diversification of the Collection (2014-2024)," tracing the museum's activities alongside the local community.

Additionally, chapters such as "Foundation Purchases (1981-)," "Tadashi Asai Memorial Award Exhibition: Contemporary Japanese Figurative Sculpture Exhibition (1983-1997)," "15th Anniversary Exhibition: 'Boso and Modern Art' (1989-1993)," "20th Anniversary Exhibition: 'Boso Art - From Yesterday to Tomorrow,'" "Around the 30th Anniversary (2004-2013)," "Tadashi Asai," and "Watercolor Painting and Crafts" are included.

The exhibition will feature a total of 72 works ranging from the museum's inaugural acquisitions like "Gate" by Kaii Higashiyama and "View of the Boso Peninsula from Mount Nokogiri" by Sadayoshi Tsubaki, to recent additions like "The Shape of Chiba Prefecture" by Ryota Kuwakubo, representing various periods and techniques.
