Buddhist Thought and Culture - From India to Japan - Special Exhibition: Once Upon a Time, the Story of Buddha

Ryukoku Museum
Finished
Before Buddha attained enlightenment and became a Buddha, he repeatedly reincarnated and lived in various previous lives. The stories of Buddha's previous lives are called "Jatakas" or “Tales of Buddha's Life" and are still passed down today. This special exhibition will introduce "Once Upon a Time, the Story of Buddha," including works on display for the first time.

In addition, a series of exhibitions will introduce the 2,500-year history of the spread of Buddhism from its birth in India throughout Asia to its roots in Japanese society, broadly divided into two sections: "Buddhism in Asia" and "Buddhism in Japan."
