Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera

Instituto Cervantes Tokyo
Finished
This exhibition traces the photographic history of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Mexico's most influential artistic couple of the 20th century. The photographs, owned by the Diego Rivera-Frida Kahlo family, capture key moments in the lives of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

Domestic troubles, encounters and partings, her second marriage to Diego, political missions, and her relationship with David Alfaro Siqueiros and José Clemente Orozco of the Mexican mural movement, as well as her discord with the art world of the time, are all highlighted in the photographs.

The exhibition features 60 works by photographers who were friends of both Frida and Diego, including Frida's father, photographer Guillermo Kahlo, and his friend Guillermo Zamora.
