Hazan Itaya 150th Anniversary - Ibaraki Crafts Association

Shimodate Museum of Art
Finished
The Ibaraki Crafts Association was founded in 1930 at the suggestion of Hazan Itaya. Since then, members have honed their skills and minds through friendly competition. Hazan, the "Sage of Ceramics" who combined Eastern and Western styles and sharpened his style, passed on his enterprising spirit and passion for his work to the members of today's Ibaraki Kogei.

This exhibition features approximately 120 works by 39 contemporary Ibaraki craftspeople active in nine fields: ceramics, metalwork, lacquerware, woodwork, textiles, embroidery, cloisonne enamel, dolls, and glass.
