Finished

Artists

Tsunetomi Kitano, Seien Shima, Tatehiko Suga, Kyoson Yano et al.
Osaka has continued to develop as a commercial and industrial city, while at the same time fostering a unique and outstanding artistic culture distinct from that of Tokyo and Kyoto. Supported by the culture of the townspeople, the art of modern Osaka, which has been a part of the city since the Edo period, has blossomed into a diverse form of free and vigorous expression that is not bound by tradition. From the Taisho period to the early Showa period, the Osaka art scene flourished, and many painters, including Tsunetomi Kitano, Seien Shima, Tatehiko Suga, and Kyoson Yano, produced works rich in individuality.
