Man Ray
Man Ray (1890-1976) is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. Active across genres such as painting, objects, and film, he pursued the possibilities of the new medium of photography, which was reaching maturity in the 1920s and 1930s.

Born in New York to Jewish parents of Ukrainian and Belarusian origin, he changed his real name, Emanuel Radnitsky, to "Man Ray" in his 20s, when he decided to become a painter. After being “baptized" by Dadaism, which destroys existing values, he moved to Paris in 1921 and set up a photography studio, where he documented the activities and work of the Surrealist movement and created portraits of his lovers and friends, fashion photography, and other works. His diverse style, combined with experimental techniques such as rayographs and solarization, gave birth to an original world of expression.

This exhibition will trace the trajectory of Man Ray's creative process through a selection of more than 240 works, with a particular focus on his depiction of "women".
