After graduating from the Oil Painting Department at Tama Art University in 2018, Tamura completed his graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023. Throughout his student years and continuing to the present, he has actively exhibited his works both domestically and internationally, based in Tokyo.
Tamura's artistic practice involves "exploring one's internal imagery to grasp the nature of this world." He has created artworks using various techniques, including oil painting and copperplate printing. Within his artistic realm, fictional narratives crafted from his imagination intertwine with realities such as social conditions. Tamura's enigmatic works, reminiscent of various cultures, scripts, and epochs blended into one, leave a strong impact on viewers, evoking a sense of nostalgia and often conjuring rich and distant worlds akin to fairy tales, albeit sometimes unsettling.
Moreover, Tamura elucidates that the theme of this exhibition, "Water and Oil," represents a consistent theme in his artworks, where the coexistence of two opposing elements serves as a focal point. Through exploration of the space between dualities like water and oil, life and death, self, and others, he aims to demonstrate through painting that the world encompasses not only binary oppositions but also the "in-between."
The exhibition will feature approximately 45 works, including 14 new pieces created with oil paint. It provides an opportunity to glimpse into the present state of this world as perceived through the eyes of the artist, as he delves into the realm of imagination, attempting to capture the essence of the world here and now.
