Oliver Payne
Oliver Payne (b.1977) graduated from Kingston University Faculty of Art and Design in the UK, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, USA. Payne began working in collaboration with Nick Relph during the late 1990s, and since 2009 has pursued his solo artistic career, creating works that draw inspiration from various subcultures such as video games and the punk rock scene.
The title of this exhibition, “Chunkadelic,” is employed as an aesthetic of sorts to refer to the thick lines, bright, dark colors, and strong angles that characterize the designs of video games, streetwear, and soft vinyl figures that were popular in the 1990s.
The exhibition “Chunkadelic (Disc2)” at 3110NZ by LDH kitchen, consists of new collages created during Payne’s visit to Japan.
